Who We Are

ReadBAMARead is a non-profit organization that was formed within weeks of the devastating April 27, 2011 tornado outbreak that not only ripped through the heart of Tuscaloosa and surrounding cities, but also completely devastated local school libraries. The mission of ReadBAMARead is simply to replace more than 280,000 school library books that were destroyed by the tornado.

Our Purpose

To have funds for the libraries to purchase books. We want contributors to know that their donations are for a specific need and at the same time they are facilitating the education of the young children that benefit from our foundation’s gifts.

Support our cause here

Our Mission

To support learning and enhance literacy in the Alabama community through a continually growing outreach program designed to get books and resources to the youngest students in our community, helping to encourage and strengthen a love for reading that will lead to greater educational success in their lives.

A Cause Worth Supporting

Our goal is to replace more than 280,000 school library books that were destroyed by the tornado. Your donation of $15 for the purchase of one book will help change the life of a child, and the donation of $300 for the purchase of 20 books can change the lives of a classroom of young minds. Donations of $300 or more will be identified on our website with company logo or family name in appreciation!  Thank you all for your generosity and ReadBAMARead!

Please email your PayPal donation receipt to Donna@ReadBAMARead.org to be included on our donation partner page with donations over $300. We will contact you for your logo or family name for addition to our Partner page.
